Harriet Gliddon wins Student Award for Outstanding Achievements
Harriet Gliddon has won a Student Award for Outstanding Achievement for her excellence in extramural activities that brings credit to Imperial College London. Harriet was one of only six winners of this prestigious prize administered by Imperial. Congrats Harriet!

Ciro Chiappini has been appointed as Lecturer at King’s College London
Congratulations to Ciro Chiappini who is now Lecturer in Nanomaterials & Biointerfaces at King’s College London! He is starting his independent academic career following his postdoctoral research with us researching the use of microfabricated biomaterials for cancer theranostics. Congratulations Ciro!

Stevens Group members win poster prizes at i-sense biannual meeting
Stevens Group PhD students Colleen Loynachan, Polina Brangel and Ye Wang won the top 3 poster prizes at this year’s i-sense biannual meeting with their posters entitled “Point-of-Care Assays Based on Enzyme Mimetic Nanoparticles”, “Serological Surveillance of Human Ebola Virus Survivors Using a Novel Smartphone-based Point of Care Test” and “Amplified detection of miRNA for Influenza diagnostics using quantum dot and duplex specific nuclease”, respectively. Congrats to all three!
Stevens Group wins President’s Award
The Stevens Group has been awarded Imperial College’s President’s Award and Medal for Outstanding Research Team for their activities and accomplishments in research!

Hanna Barriga awarded Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship
Dr Hanna Barriga has been awarded a very prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship from H2020 called “SMARTCUBES”, in which she will design innovative nanoparticles for the targeted delivery of protein therapeutics. Congrats Hanna!

Prof Molly Stevens receives 2016 Clemson Award for Basic Research
Prof Molly Stevens received the 2016 Clemson Award for Basic Research from the Society for Biomaterials at her Keynote Address at the World Biomaterials Congress 2016 in Montreal, Canada.

Lucia Massi Wins Second Prize in the 2nd London Polymer Group Symposium
Congratulations to Stevens Group member Lucia Massi for winning Second Prize for her poster at the 2nd London Polymer Group Symposium! Lucia is studying innovative strategies that target the improvement of therapies for osteoarthritis. Dr Mads Bergholt wins UKRMP Special Merit Prize
Stevens Group member Dr Mads Bergholt has won the UKRMP Special Merit Prize based on his activities within the United Kingdom Regenerative Medicine Platform “Stem Cell Niche Hub” and “Acellular Material Technologies” Hubs. This award recognises him for his demonstrating outstanding activity in providing connectivity across the Hubs and Platform. Congrats Mads!

Kella Kapnisi wins Public Speaking Prize at the Postgraduate Day at Imperial
Stevens Group member Kella Kapnisi has won a prize for Public Speaking with her talk "An auxetic micropatterned patch, with mechanically tunable and conductive properties for treating myocardial infarctions" at the Postgraduate Day at Imperial College London. Congrats, Kella!

Congrats to Harriet for winning the Next Generation: Global Health Innovator Prize and Best Video Prize at the Imperial College Institute for Global Health Innovation Student Challenges Competition. Congrats Harriet!

Andrea Serio featured on the new Imperial Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Network Website
Stevens Group member Dr Andrea Serio is this month’s featured researcher on the new website of the Imperial Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Network, which is co-led by Profs Sara Rankin, Sian Harding and Molly Stevens. Dr Paola Campagnolo, also a postdoc within the Stevens Group, organises regular events for this Network, which hosts world-leading researcher lectures at Imperial College.

Harriet Gliddon in Finals of Global Health Competition
Stevens Group PhD student Harriet Gliddon has been selected as one of the finalists of the Institute for Global Health Innovation Student Challenges Competition! Harriet has created a video called ‘Putting TB to the test’ that summarises her approach of creating nanomaterial-based biosensors capable of detecting biomarkers of tuberculosis. Congrats to Harriet, whose video has been selected as one of the top 6 entrees based on its excellent quality!

Molly Stevens awarded 2016 Clemson Award for Basic Research
The Society of Biomaterials has selected Prof Molly Stevens as winner of the prestigious Clemson Award for Basic Research for 2016! This award recognises the Stevens Group for having contributed to the basic knowledge and understanding of the interaction of materials with tissue.

Spencer Crowder selected to present at SET for Britain
Stevens Group member Spencer Crowder was selected to present his work at this year’s SET for Britain poster competition. He will present his work to MPs in Westminster. SET for Britain is a highly competitive national competition that supports early career researchers to present their work is such a prestigious forum. Congrats Spencer!
