Nanoneedle-based approach demonstrates extraordinary delivery capabilities in cells and tissues
The Stevens Group’s latest Nature Materials article entitled “Biodegradable silicon nanoneedles delivering nucleic acids intracellularly induce localized in vivo neovascularization” reports an innovative nanomaterial-based device designed for intracellular delivery of sensitive cargoes. The paper by Chiappini et al in collaboration with HMRI describes how nanoneedles based on porous silicon can facilitate the delivery of nucleic acids (e.g. DNA and siRNA) in living cells and tissues non-destructively.
