Thomas von Erlach and Gabriel Mecklenburg Co-found spin-out Marblar

Marblar, launched at the end of October, is a new crowdsourcing site that aims to help scientists turn discoveries into innovative applications by publicly discussing potential uses for patented discoveries made in research laboratories that as yet may not have led to real-world applications. Stevens’ group members Gabriel Mecklenburg and Thomas von Erlach are two of the founders of Marblar. The venture has already attracted £371,000 of backing from technology-investment firm IP Group and has been profiled in Nature News.
